Obituary: Mrs. Sylvia Sue Collings, 74, Green Co., KY

She was a devoted member of the Greensburg Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for forty plus years.

Mrs. Sylvia Sue "Judy" Collings, 74, of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at her home.

The funeral services for Mrs. Sylvia Sue "Judy" Callings will be conducted at 11amCT, Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Greensburg Baptist Church, 128 North Main ST, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Green County Memory Gardens. Bro. Daniel Lovell and Bro. Blake Jessie will be officiating. Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Visitation is from 4 to 8pmCT, Friday, January 22, 2010, at the Greensburg Baptist Church and after 7amCT, Saturday January 23, 2010, until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers will be Mitch Collings, Greg Collings, Adam Collings, Jerry Collings, Michael S. Collings, Magel Collings, Matthew Collings, Mitchell Z. Collings, Michael McCaffrey. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Collings and Sylvia Collings.

Mrs. Sylvia Sue "Judy" Collings, Green Co., KY (1935-2010)

Mrs. Sylvia Sue "Judy" Collings of Greensburg, KY, daughter of the late George Hudson and Hazel Hillis Hudson, was born on June 11, 1935 in Lawton, Oklahoma and departed this life on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at her home. She was 74 years, seven months and eight days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for forty plus years. She was a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church WMU, a member of the Greensburg Art Club and a homemaker.

She united in marriage to Gerald "Jerry" Collings on January 27, 1956 who survives.Other survivors include:

  • Four sons and three daughters-in-law: Mitch and Theresa Collings of Greensburg, KY; Greg Collings of Nicholasville, KY; Adam and Sabrina Collings of Olive Hill, KY; and Jerry and Gretchen Collings of Boston, MA

  • Ten grandchildren: Christopher Collings of Nicholasville, KY; Sylvia Collings of Olive Hill, KY; Michael McCaffrey of Boston; Michael Collings, Matthew Collings, Magel Collings, Mitchell Z. Collings, Faun Lobb, and Jackie Curtsinger all of Campbellsville, KY; and Trisha Hall of Greensburg, KY

  • Six great-grandchildren: Shelby England, Hannah England, and Peydon Hall all of Greensburg, KY; Elijah Collings, Haley Curtsinger, and Colton Curtsinger all of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two sisters: Ann Harrison of Michigan and Fran Wein of Florida

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Greensburg Baptist Church WMU Ministries, which can be made at the funeral home.
