Obituary: Bert Ronald Johnson, 73, Russell Co., KY

He was a retired ironworker and. a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Bert Ronald Johnson, Hwy 92, Jamestown, KY, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.

A religious service was held at Jamestown Church of the Nazarene, Jamestown, KY, at 11amCT, on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, with Bro. Jamie McCormack officiating. Burial was in Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown, KY. H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, Jamestown, KY was in charge of arrangements.



Pallbearers were Ben Johnson, Grover Johnson, Joel Johnson, Hugh Clayton, Jr.; Noel Clayton, and Joe David Coffey.

Bert Ronald Johnson, Russell Co., KY (1936-2010)

Bert Ronald Johnson was the son of the late Grover Cleveland Johnson and Earlin (Pruitt) Johnson. He was born Sunday, October 18, 1936, in Jamestown, Russell Co., KY and died Saturday, January 16, in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY, at the age of 73 years, 2 months, and 29 days.

Mr. Johnson was a retired ironworker. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, June McWhorter Johnson, Jamestown, KY, and the following:
  • One son: Ronald, husband of Linda Harvey Johnson, Jamestown, KY

  • One daughter: Deborah John Grant, Jamestown, KY

  • One brother: G.C. Johnson, Jr., Jamestown, KY

  • One sister: Novajean Plummer, Louisville, KY

  • Three grandchildren, Christon, wife of Curt Hill; Ben, husband of Marisa Johnson; and Stephanie Grant

  • One great grandchild: Michah Johnson
Donations in his memory are suggested to Jamestown Church of the Nazarene Youth, 132 South Main ST, Jamestown, KY.
