Pianist Andrea Anderson recital is Jan. 26, 2010 at Slider Performance celebrates Bicentennial of Chopin By Duane Bonifer, LWC Director of Public Affair COLUMBIA, KY - The music of Bach, Chopin Mozart and Ravel will be featured at a January 26, 2010 piano recital at Lindsey Wilson College. Pianist Andrea Anderson will perform selected pieces by the four European composers at 7pmCT Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in the W.W. Slider Humanities Center Recital Hall, Blue Raider DR, Columbia, KY. The concert is part of the 2009-10 Lindsey Wilson Cultural Affairs Series. It is free and open to the public. Anderson's piano recital will include Johann Sebastian Bach's "Prelude and Fugue in C Sharp Major" Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Sonata in F Major" and Maurice Ravel's "Sonatine." The highlight of the recital will be music by Frederic Chopin, the 19th-century Polish composer whose birth's bicentennial is being celebrated this year around the world. Anderson will perform Chopin's "Scherzo in B Flat Minor," "Ballade in F Major," "Nocturne in D Flat Major" and "Polonaise in A Flat Major." Anderson studied at the Manhattan (NY) School of Music, Columbia University and University of Southern California, and she recently earned a doctorate from Claremont Graduate (CA) University. Anderson was granted the Harold Bauer Award by the Manhattan School and a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation for further study and performance at the Aspen Music Festival. She has performed in the United States, China, Sweden, Finland and Lithuania, and she has made several recordings. Pianist Andrea Anderson will perform 7 p.m. CT Tuesday, Jan. 26, in the Lindsey Wilson College W.W. Slider Humanities Center Recital Hall, 155 Blue Raider DR, Columbia, KY (Enter from Lindsey Wilson Street). The concert is free and open to the public.
