Lindsey Wilson College vs. Campbellsville University Basketball
Emergency Kit Supply Drive for Victims of Haiti Earthquake
January 21, 2010

A message from LWC Student Activities

Dear Friends, Faculty, Staff, and Students of Lindsey Wilson College and Campbellsville University,

As we all know, the country of Haiti has suffered another disaster in the past week. Over 70,000 are dead and even more are still missing. There is a great need for aid to this part of the world, and the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is asking for donations of emergency kits to send to Haiti for those who are left displaced and homeless by the earthquake that hit their country.

This Thursday, January 21, 2010 is the first of two Lindsey Wilson versus Campbellsville University games of this semester, and the Student Activities Board and Lindsey Wilson College Residence Life are asking the Lindsey and Campbellsville communities to bring items for donation to the game in order to help those who have been affected by this disaster. In addition to your help, Lindsey Wilson College will be donating part of the proceeds of the game to Haiti relief efforts.

Donation bins for the items will be at the entrance.

Items that can be brought for donation are as follows:
  • One (1) Gallon Ziploc Plastic Bags
  • Hand towels (15x25 to 17x27, no kitchen towels)
  • Washcloths
  • Combs (large and sturdy, not pocket sized)
  • Nail files or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
  • Bath-size bars of soap (3 oz. and up)
  • Toothbrushes (single brushes only in original wrapper, no child-sized brushes)
  • Adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages (Band Aids)

Important Kit Information
  • All items in kits must be NEW
  • All emergency kits are carefully planned to make them usable in the greatest number of situations. Since strict rules often govern product entry into international countries, it is important that kits contain only the requested itemsnothing more.
  • Do NOT include any personal notes, money, or additional materials for the kits.

Monetary donations for the purchase of items for emergency kits will also be accepted at the game. The cost of one kit is approximately $12.

For information please contact Jayne Hopkins, Director of Student Activities at Lindsey Wilson College at (270) 384-8033.

We hope that you will participate in this very worthwhile cause and come to cheer on your favorite team!
