Poetry by Robert H. Stone: New Beginnings, a sonnet

New Beginnings
- a sonnet by Robert Stone
So time is marching on or dragging by
or some such figure speechwise so we say
but time is just a combination sly
of comes together and of goes astray.

Both those we meet and things we happen on
require a constant here and now response
for change is always sure as is the dawn
of seriousness and of nonchalance.

Yes time is what we piece into our quilt
of what we chose to do and not to do
and it will be our badge of thoughtless guilt
and thoughtful kindnesses for all to view.

Each instant new beginnings are at hand
to weave our covering strand by strand.
- Robert Stone, 17 January 2010
