Jones family sends thanks to Columbia-Adair Co. Fire Dept.

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

When you live in a small town your entire life and the folks around you are your friends and neighbors, it never occurs to you that they wouldn't be around when you need them. We are lucky here in Columbia, because our friends and neighbors are also members of our own Columbia-Adair County Volunteer Fire Department.

My entire life, I have watched these volunteers risk their lives each and every day to keep our community from harm, but it wasn't until just recently when we had a house full of smoke, that I actually realized just how lucky we are; to be able to call 9-1-1 and ask for the fire department and they show up a few minutes later on the doorstep at 3:00 in the morning.

My family and I were one of the lucky ones who just had a little smoke in the house, but our fire department came just the same, ready to do whatever it took to keep our family safe, so we could go back to bed and feel safe knowing brave volunteers are just a phone call away in our small town.

We want to personally thank the firemen of the Columbia-Adair County Fire department for their compassion and professionalism during our recent smoke emergency. We are so lucky to live in Adair County.

Sincerely,Mark and Leila Jones
