Obituary: Lovetta Burris, 83, Adair County, KY

She was a member of a respected North Adair County family and of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church

Lovetta Burris, 83, of Columbia, KY, died Sunday, January 3, 2010, at 3:55pmCT at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, KY.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at 1pmCT, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 30 Buford Dial RD, Greensburg, KY, with Bro. James Walker and Bro. Keith Clements officiating. Burial will be in Bennett Cemetery, 4650 Pelham Branch Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 3pmCT, Tuesday, January 5, 2010, and from 6am-9amCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, and after 10am, Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at the church.



Lovetta Burris (1926-2010)

She was born December 18, 1926. She was the daughter of the late George Washington and Dollie Bennett Kemp, and died January 3, 2010, at the age of 83 years, and 17 days.She was the widow of Raymond Burris, and a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
  • One daughter: Reba Rogers, Columbia, KY

  • Three sons and daughters in law: Bradley and Jerlene Burris, Greensburg, KY; and Ricky and Janice Burris and Justin and Pam Burris, all of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter in law: Teresa Burris, Columbia, KY

  • Eight grandchildren: Michael Rogers, Tonya Wall, Leann Shearer, Amanda Lemmon, Angie Harris, Jennifer Roy, Ryan Burris, and Erin Burris

  • Eight great grandchildren

  • Special friends: Marshall and Sue Smith and Wilma Burris.
  • She was preceded in death by a son, Kenny Burris; son in law, Jimmy Rogers, and the following brothers and sisters: Hazel Clark, Doris Corbin, Maxine Overstreet; Coy, Elza, and Edmund Kemp; and one grandchild, Britney Nicole Burris.Memorial are suggested to the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Building Fund and these may be left at the funeral home.
