Election 2010: Michael Burton for Adair County Sheriff By Michael Burton, candidate for nomination for Adair County Sheriff, in the May 18, 2009, Adair County Republican Primary. To the citizens of Adair County: My name is Michael Burton and I have chosen to run for the office of Sheriff for Adair County. I have chosen to run for this office because I feel the citizens of Adair County need a person who believes in their values and will work each and every day to make Adair County a safer and more enjoyable place to live. I started my carrier in law enforcement in September of 2005 and have seen the changes our community has gone through in the past several years. I feel that as Sheriff, it is and will be my duty to serve the people of Adair County. As Sheriff it will be my job to uphold the local, state, and federal laws and not create new laws. I remember a time here in Adair County when you could leave your keys in your vehicle and sleep with your doors unlocked, but today this is not so. I feel it is time we take back our community and make a strong stance against the rising crime we are facing. For many years we have been more reactive than proactive toward crime. If elected as your Sheriff I will make every available tool accessible to my staff for solving and preventing crimes that are taking place. As Sheriff I will always continue to have an open door policy and take the time to listen to the concerns of the citizens of Adair County. As Sheriff I will hold my staff, as well as myself accountable for our actions and develop a policy and procedure plan that is open to the public. I feel that serving as Sheriff it is crucial to be able to work with the public. There is no crime that happens in this county that can be solved without the public's help. Drugs have always been a problem in this county, just as it is in other counties. As Sheriff I cannot rid this county of drugs but I will make it a top priority to fight against it every day. We must work together to ensure the safety of our children and the future of Adair County. I look forward to meeting and speaking with the citizens of this county and addressing your concerns. I would greatly appreciate your support and vote in the upcoming election. Thank You.Michael Burton, Republican Candidate for Adair County Sheriff245 Royal Oaks RdColumbia, Ky 42728(270)634-2324 See also:
