Next City Council meeting will have more on utilities merger Complete January 4, 2009 City Council Meeting Agenda The first meeting of the Columbia City Council in the New Year will include more on the merger of the Columbia Utilities water and sewer departments into the Adair County Water District. Hodgenville Attorney Damon Talley, who is advising the City on the merger, is scheduled to be on the agenda. Mayor Pat Bell has long advocated a merger of the two systems, citing efficiencies which would benefit both city and county residents. The nine item agenda for Monday, January 4, 2010, includes second readings on a clarification of the zoning class for Janes Appliance and on the closing of a section of Madison Alley, within the Columbia United Methodist Church campus, and of Adams Alley beside the new addition to Columbia City Hall.
