Plum Point Baptists use Coffee Can Fund to help others Taking kids Christmas shopping is Adult Sunday School Class's biggest blessing. Those who want to take part can do so, even if they are not members of Plum Point Baptist Church By Ludora Perkins Just to let you know about this year's Coffee Can Fund at Plum Point Baptist Church - we're continuing to help needy families in the community have a happier Christmas. We took 21 kids Christmas shopping this year. As you know, our adult Sunday School Class collects money every Sunday in a Maxwell House coffee can for helping others. If we know about a family who loses a home or has some financial difficulty during the year, we try to help a bit by giving them $300.00. Our really big blessing comes from the kids we take Christmas shopping. If anyone knows of a child/children whose parents (for one reason or another) can't afford to give the child much Christmas, we allow each child $200.00 to buy some things for Christmas. Some of us go with them and allow them to choose things they want and need. They get clothes (of course) and toys - Christmas stuff. It is so rewarding to see a child's face when doing this shopping. If anyone would like to be a part of this and help with our Coffee Can collection, please get in touch with Pastor Lewis Haynes at 96 Maple Tree St., Columbia; Billy Rice at 391 Plum Point Rd., Columbia (or Billy's Body Shop); or David Mann at 215 Deerbrook Lane, Elizabethtown, KY 42701; or any member of the church - and it will be added to the can.We think the recipients get a blessing and we know we do. Thanks,-Ludora Perkins This story was posted on 2009-12-28 09:27:39
