Adair Justice Center move in day tentatively last of February

The members of the Adair Project Development Board for the new Adair Judicial Center were told at Tuesday night's meeting, December 15, 2009,that the move in date is tentatively set for the last week of February, 2010.

The board was also told that the tentative date for the raising of the rotunda dome is tomorrow, Tuesday, December 17, 2009. The decision to raise the dome was made after complaints that the decorative fixture could be seen clearly only from vantage points on Lindsey Hill, from High Street, up Guthrie Street, some upstairs windows, and from the little walkway between the Municipal Parking Lot and Adams Alley.

The Board commissioned Lindsey Wilson Art Professor Tim Smith to do the Scale of Justice sculpture for the fountain which will be constructed at the corner of Campbellsville and Merchant Streets. While the fountain will be finished much sooner, the sculpture is not expected to be installed before August of 2010.

Smith's work is well known in South Central Kentucky. He was the sculptor for the Col. Frank Wolford commemoration near the Campbellsville and Fairground Street intersection in the Columbia Cemetery.

Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton presided at the session.
