Thanks for trying: On tax rejection and a look ahead

By Billy Joe Fudge

On July 4th, 1776 fifty six men representing our 13 original colonies signed the Declaration of Independence which ended with this commitment, "And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor".

In that time of great distress and hardship these 56 men rose above personal convenience and pledged everything they were, everything they owned, and yes their very lives to lay the foundation for this the greatest nation ever to exist.

Tuesday's election was an exercise of freedom and self government made possible for us by the signers of this Declaration. Although I am disappointed in the results I am heartened that there were several hundred folks who rose above personal convenience and took a step of faith in a time of distress and hardship to vote yes for our future and our children.

Also, I am convinced that most every person who voted against this tax did not vote against our children. I must believe that for most every person I believe would sacrifice themselves in defense of a child and to make a child's life better.

So, Superintendent Treece and Adair County Board of Education thanks for your progressive leadership and effort to date.

Now Superintendent Treece and Adair County Board of Education research every option and opportunity open to our community for replacing and or repairing and remodeling CWC.

Then have an open meeting in a venue with enough room to accommodate a crowd of folks and lead us forward for we cannot fail the children, we cannot fail the children.

-Billy Joe Fudge, PresidentHomeplace On Green River, Inc.
