By Dan White, Asst. LWC Sports Information Director

COLUMBIA, KY - Four Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer players earned All-American honors from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the national office announced on December 5, 2009.

Senior forward Yolanda Hamilton was named a first team All-American, while senior goalkeeper Carrie Revlett and freshman midfielder Mia Persson were named to the second team. Sophomore midfielder Ida Gregersen was an honorable-mention selection.

Hamilton All-American all four years

Hamilton, the Mid-South Conference Player of the Year, has received All-American honors from the NAIA all four years of her career at Lindsey Wilson. This is the first selection to the first team for the St. Thomas, Jamaica native. Hamilton finished the season ranked ninth in the NAIA in total points with 53, 10th in total goals (20) and 11th in total assists (13).

Revlett top keeper in program history

Revlett wrapped up her Blue Raider career as one of the most prolific keepers in program history. The Shelbyville, KY, native tallied 14 shutouts this season, giving her a program-best 42 for her career. This season, Revlett allowed 11 goals in 22 games for a .496 goals-against average with 54 saves.

Revlett appeared in 22 games this season, pushing her career mark to a program-best 74. The previous career record for keepers was 52 games, achieved by current assistant coach Debbie McGuinness. Revlett was an honorable-mention choice the past two seasons.

Persson has already made lasting impression impression

In just one season with the Blue Raiders, the newcomer Persson has already made a lasting impression. Persson ranked 25th in the country in total goals with 17 and 36th in total points with 38. On Oct. 6, Persson was named the NAIA Offensive Player of the Week after netting six goals and an assist in just two games.

Gregersen 40thy in NAIA in total assists

Gregersen, a second-team choice last season, ranked 40th in the NAIA in total assists this season with nine. The sophomore finished third on the team with 12 goals to record 33 points on the season.

Lindsey Wilson wrapped up its 2009 campaign in the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Tournament where they fell 2-0 to Point Loma Nazarene (CA) University on December 2. The Blue Raiders posted a 19-3-2 record and were ranked No. 1 in the final NAIA Poll of the season.

As well as appearing in its ninth straight national tournament, Lindsey Wilson won its eighth straight MSC Tournament Championship and 10th consecutive regular-season championship.

(ADV) FFA Address Marker orders may be placed at Four Adair Co., KY businesses
We are announcing a new option to make it more convenient for people to place orders and pick up signs puchased from the Adair County FFA. Two local businesses have agreed to provide a location for people to place an order and pick up their sign when it is finished. You can now place an order at:

  • Day and Day Feed and Pet, 1011 Campbellsville RD, Columbia, KY

  • M & W Milling, 510 Short ST., Columbia, KY

  • Hardscratch Grocery, 7289 Hwy 55 South Road, Columbia, KY. In the Glensfork Community of Adair County. Phone (270) 384-4671

We will pick up the orders every few days and call the person when the sign is ready to be picked up. Signs are still $15 and are a hot item for Chistmas since they fit perfectly into a large stocking. They are about the best gift I can think of for the person that already has everything and is hard to shop for. If a person wants a sign by Christmas, they will have to get their order in by December 15, 2010. which is the last day of school before break. Orders placed after this date will not likely be filled until after the New Year. -Kirby Hancock, Advisor, Adair County FFA
