Athletes on four different teams honored: Zetroy Robertson, Kelley Burke, Sarah Kline, Amanda Johnson, Candace Young, Lorna Heaton, Carrie Revlett, and Matilda Myers

By Dan White, Asst. LWC Sports Information Director

COLUMBIA, KY - Eight Lindsey Wilson College student-athletes on four different teams were named scholar-athletes by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

The 2009 NAIA National Champion men's soccer team had one representative, two came from the volleyball and women's cross country programs and women's soccer had three scholar-athletes.

Junior defender Zetroy Robertson was the men's soccer honoree. The St. Elizabeth, Jamaica native played in 16 games this season, making five starts. Robertson dished out two assists to finish with two points.

Seniors Kelley Burke and Sarah Kline made the list from the volleyball team. Burke appeared in 27 matches, contributing 204 assists and 82 digs. Kline finished her final season with a team-high 552 assists, 261 digs and 59 kills.

Senior Amanda Johnson and junior Candace Young represent that women's cross country team. Johnson helped the squad finish first at the Berea (KY) College Invitational on September 19, crossing the line in 22 minutes and 42.51 seconds. Young finished 27th in the Centre (KY) College Invitational on Sept. 12 as the Blue Raiders placed third as a team.

Women's soccer is represented by seniors Lorna Heaton and Carrie Revlett and junior Matilda Myers. Heaton played in 20 games, making 16 starts with five goals for 10 points. Revlett allowed just 11 goals in 22 games for a .496 goals-against average in goal while also collecting 54 saves.

Honorees are nominated by the institution's head coach. A student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.
