Obituary: Mr. Ervin Arms, 86, Cumberland Co. KY

Mr. Arms was a beloved citizen Cumberland Co., KY. He was a Holiness preacher, a farmer, carpenter, logger, and grave contractor. He was the patriarch of a large family, and leaves 49 direct living descendants

Mr. Ervin Arms, 86, of the Dutch Creek Community in Cumberland Co., KY, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2009, at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, KY.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ervin Arms will be conducted Tuesday December 1, 2009 at 1pmCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 North Main ST, Burkesville, KY, with Bro. Lyndon Robertson, Bro. Rodney "Tot" McGinnis and Bro. Ronnie Pitcock officiating. Burial will be in the Dutch Creek Cemetery. Visitation is after 11am on Monday November 30, 2009 until the funeral hour on Tuesday, December 1, 2009.



Mr. Ervin Arms, 86, Cumberland Co., KY (1923-2009)

Mr. Ervin Arms, age 86, of The Dutch Creek Community in Cumberland Co., Ky, passed away Saturday November 28, 2009 at the Cumberland County Hospital, in Burkesville, KY, at the age of 86 years, 5 months, and 29 days., He was born on May 30, 1923, in the Wash's Bottom near Leslie in Cumberland County, KY, the son of George Martin and Mary Lizzie Norris Arms.He was a Holiness Preacher, a member of the Jesus Name Church, farmer, carpenter, logger and was the grave contractor for Norris-New Funeral Home since 1958 when it was known as Moore and Norris Funeral Home. He worked at the Funeral Home till he was unable to walk thru the door just a few years ago.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife 20 days ago, Ruby Wright Arms, his brother, Creed Arms, his sisters, Meldia Taylor, Georgia Hope and Rosie Branham; and a grandchild, Eddie Smith, Jr.He is survived by the following:
  • His children: Georgia Katherine (and John) Dyer of Burkesville, KY; Bobby Gene (and Barbara) Arms of Burkesville, KY; Jimmy Edward (and Carolyn) Arms of Burkesville, KY; Shirley Ann (and Eddie) Smith of Indianapolis, IN; and Betty Jane Arms of Marrowbone, KY

  • His sister: Mary Helen Humphrey of Burkesville, KY

  • His 15 grandchildren, Michael, Chris, James L., Diane, Lisa, Shelia, Jimmy, Anthony, Joe, Sam, James Robert, Michael, Daryl, Cody and Lance

  • His 26 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren
