2009-11-25 - New York City, NY - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne. New York has arrived-made it as a city, now that it is being photographed by Shamarie Claiborne. The Adair County Marching Band saw it last night, Tuesday, November 24, 2009. The photo was taken at 10:56pmCT and with a dramatic view of The New Yorker Hotel and, according to Wikipedia, the current third tallest building in the United States, the Empire State Building. What The Band saw, Day 2: The Statue of Liberty

2009-11-25 - New York, New York - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne. Even though it may be the single most recognizable landmark in the world, there was still a feeling that words can't express seeing it up close, at night, for the first time, as most of the members of the Adair County Marching Band did last night, when they saw the Statue of Liberty from their boat on the Hudson..ColumbiaMagazine.com Group at Flickr.com

From New York City: Hello! Columbia, KY!

2009-11-25 - New York City - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne. In the center of the mass of people on the streets of New York, you can see Jamie White, waving. And to illustrate just what an impact The Band Nation invasion of New City is having, you can hardly see a person in this huge crowd not from Adair County. We'll add names as you send them. Mr. Allen is in the picture, near the top center. Look closely, you may see yourself or someone you know. ColumbiaMagazine.com Group at Flickr.com

Don't honk: New York City is tough on Yahoos

2009-11-25 - New York City, NY - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne. You can display bad street manners in New York City, but if you do, you'll forfeit a pickup payment for doing so. ColumbiaMagazine.com Group at Flickr.com

New York City: Sometimes an almost lonely place

2009-11-25 - Photo By Shamarie Claiborne. Even in a huge city with twice the population of the whole state of Kentucky, there are lonely scenes, as this one was, on part of The Band's tour on the second day of The Expediton, and its first day in New York City. The Band in NYC: The Chrysler Building from another angle

2009-11-25 - 42nd and Lexington AV, NYC, NY - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne. What The Band saw, Day 2 of Expedition: Shamarie Claiborne captured this view of the art deco Chrysler Building skyscraper at 42nd and Lexington AV, New York City. It was the world's tallest building briefly until the Empire State Building surpassed it in 1931. It is a favorite building of the professionals in the field of architecture. Streets of New York: Busy Park Avenue

2009-11-25 - New York City - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne. Not a traffic jam to be anywhere the equal of Campbellsville Street in back home in Columbia, KY at 4pmCT, but this traffic on Park Avenue in New York City was a picture everyone had in their minds of typical New York City. "I think those are hotdog vendors approaching the cars," Shamarie said.ColumbiaMagazine.com Group at Flickr.com

The Band in NJ: The Caravan moves toward Holland Tunnel

2009-11-25 - Jersey City, NJ - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne. It was exciting to see six busses ahead of carrying soon to be Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Tv stars into the Holland Tunnel. The Adair County Marching Band was still in New Jersey when this photo was taken. Up ahead is the Holland Tunnel, connecting the Garden State with Manhattan Island in New York City. The tunnel on I-78 goes under the Hudson River, and is over two and one-half miles long. The second, maroon bus, was a replacement bus put into service in Kentucky on the first day of the trip after a windshield wiper on the brand new coach failed. Three Renaissance Men in New York City

2009-11-25 - New York City - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne. "This photo just goes to show you how versatile my Three Musketeers are - as at home as sophisticated travellers in front of a china display in New York as they are exploring The Holler back in Ozark," Shamarie Claiborne says. They are, from left, Chad Scholl, Dusty Claiborne, and Adam Harris. ColumbiaMagazine.com Group at Flickr.com

Parking in New York: A bit pricey

2009-11-25 - New York City, New York - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne. "It's cheaper to buy a house with all the parking you want in Columbia, KY, than it is to pay to park in New York City, and we don't charge extra for exotic cars." Shamarie notes, "Parking is a little high here." ColumbiaMagazine.com Group at Flickr.com
