Old House on Haskinsville RD is special place, writer remembers

About: Old House series: Haskinsville RD place photo by Mike Ratliff

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

My name is Emily Hitch Fletcher and this is the house where my sister, Libby and my two brothers, Ronnie and Sammy and our mom, Pina Lee Hitch lived in the ealy 50's. The man who owned this house, Bingham Russell, let us live there right after our house had burned. We only lived there for a couple years, but it was such a special place because our family had been divided and this house brought us all together. I have a painting of this house that I had painted 16 years ago, and the house was in a lot better shape than it is now.

s/Emily Hitch Fletcher

Thanks! We hope to learn more about the house from you, if you'll share your memories and perhaps a photo of the painting. We hope everyone understands that we see magnificent beauty in proper respect paid to these structures. While many of us have souls which don't relate to Mayan or Egyptian ruins, their spirits are warmed by the sight of these half century, 100, and 200 year old buildings, abandoned but holding such great true or imagined stories. Especially at Christmas time. -EW
