Scenic Old House Series inaugurated by Mike Ratliff Click on headline for story + photo(s) By Mike Ratliff I recently took these on a couple of very nice days. As I've driven the roads of southcentral Kentucky over the past few years, I've noticed many old houses. I thought I'd begin taking a few photos of them. I have one photo rule though: The picture must be taken from the cab of my truck. Don't worry, I'm very attentive and safe when I stop to take a photo. I thought it might be interesting to post a photo and get feedback on the old house's history. Anyway, ... enjoy them. Thanks. The series is now started. ColumbiaMagazine.com readers and photographers have proven they love the beauty of the old houses already. We wish there were a law protecting them. Everytime we see another old house gone it's a time of sadness for us. We like the idea of the Scenic Old House series, and hope to have more from Mike Ratliff and that other photographer's add to it, as well. Our rule, however, is that we'll accept them them even if they aren't taken from a cab of a pickup truck. That's an Arkansas thing, we suppose, and it's okay for Kentuckians to emulate the practice, if they are "very attentive when they stop to take a photo." -EW This story was posted on 2009-11-22 12:34:54
