2009 NAIA National Soccer Tournament starts here today Columbia is soccer capitol of the United States today: Two Top NAIA National Soccer National Tournament games are at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Blue Raider DR., in Columbia, Adair Co., KY, today! Nation's two top teams Lindsey Wilson Women and Lindsey Wilson Men play at Noon and 3pm and COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's soccer teams begin their quest for a national championship on Saturday as the two programs host the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Blue Raider DR, Columbia, KY. Both teams enter the NAIA National Tournament as the top seed and host one of 16 opening-round matches for each tournament at on-campus sites. The Blue Raider women host Missouri Baptist University at noon CT while the men host Lee (TN) University at 3pmCT. The Lindsey Wilson women (17-2-2) received one of the 25 automatic bids given to the conference, independent and unaffiliated champions. The Blue Raiders captured the Mid-South Conference Tournament title last week. The national tournament appearance is the Blue Raiders 11th in the program's history, including nine straight. Lindsey Wilson has captured a pair of national titles in the program's history. Lindsey Wilson enters Saturday's game on an 18-match unbeaten streak. The Blue Raiders last loss came on August 29 to Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University. Missouri Baptist (12-7-1) reached the 32-team, single elimination tournament as the American Midwest Conference Tournament champions. This is the Spartans first-ever appearance in the national tournament. Lindsey Wilson and Missouri Baptist split the two all-time meetings with each winning on the other's home field. The Spartans won 3-2 in Columbia in 2002 and the Blue Raiders won 4-0 in 2003. The Blue Raider men (15-2-1) received one of the 24 automatic bids given to the conference, independent and unaffiliated champions. The Blue Raiders captured the Mid-South Conference Tournament title last week. The national tournament appearance is the Blue Raiders 17th, including 16 straight. Lindsey Wilson owns seven NAIA National Championships, the same number of championships owned by the remainder of the field. Lee (9-8-3) earned a trip to the national tournament after winning the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament title. The Flames reach their fourth tournament in the program's history, including their second straight. The Blue Raiders own a 4-2 all-time series lead, including a 1-0 win last season at home.
