Mark Willis recalls using Jeffries Building fire escape

About: Downtown Details: Fire Escape

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

Back in the 80's, I locked myself upstairs in the old Jeffries Building by accident. I was on the second floor back behind Dr. Randall's office in some rooms that we had set up some weight lifting equipment in when this happened. I went out the window that is at the top of the steps of this fire escape and started down it. It very slowly started to go down till I was all the way down and on the sidewalk, then it very slowly went back up to it where it was to begin with.

s/Mark Willis
