Proud mother Betty Sue Jasper was wearing a t-shirt with a photo of her favorite band member, Adair County High School senior and flute soloist Heather Jasper. Betty Sue created the t-shirt at home, using a photo she made, her computer, and transfer paper. "It's really easy," she said. "After you make the transfer, you just position it, and iron it on the shirt." She was on the square to welcome the kids home Sunday, November 8, 2009.

ACHS Band welcome: Practicing his flag waving

2009-11-09 - Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. One of the most excited kids in Adair County Sunday was Charlie Barnes, who was in town on the Square practicing waving his ACHS Marching band flag nearly one-half hour before the mighty Adair County Marching Band caravan rolled around the Square at 12:20pm, Sunday, November 8, 2009. He was accompanied to the event by his wife, Barbara, and her brother Bob Waggener, supporters of the band and their favorite band members, Logan and Payton Barnes, whom they share precious grandparenting time with George and Bobbie Keltner. By the time the band arrived, the flag waving was precise, ready to be on Tv, when the Adair County Marching Band is seen around the world on Tv, marching through New York City. Charles and Barbara Barnes will be there. At left in the background are band parents Steve Coomer and John Tupman.

Big man, big job at state

His sister, Kelsey Castaneda, plays clarinet, and his brother, Kyle Castaneda, is an important part of the drum line. Brandon did a great job. He's a favorite about the band and boosters."

Hat trick of a different sort: The plumes are blue

2009-11-09 - Louisville, KY - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne. "I liked the visual effect of the plumes on these three hats," Shamarie Claiborne said. They are significant as a symbol of a transition in directors. Mr. Tom Case, the new director, favored the new blue color instead of the long-time black plumes which used to adorn the headgear.
