11 of 16 precincts counted: 583 signatures validated By Ed Waggener The necessity of an election to keep the Nickel Tax is appearing to be more like after three precincts were tallied tonight, bringing the total number of valid signatures to 583, just 172 short of the 755 needed to certify the petition. Five precincts still await validation, according to Deputy Adair County Clerk Melissa Fletcher. The report of the total for the 11 precincts came at 6:47pm. Adair County Court Clerk Sheila Blair assigned after hours work tonight to speed the results. "I'm hoping we'll be able to certify or not by as early as Tuesday evening," she said.
