Glens Fork community kids get special pumpkins



2009-10-29 - 124 Hwy 900 RD, Columbia, KY - Photo by Bryan Miller. Grant Michael Cockerham, was one of 20 children from the Glens Fork community who carved the shape of the Cross into their pumpkins, and got to take them home with them. Each child also received a votive candle to light the pumpkin, so that they can proudly display their Christian faith this Halloween. The event took place at the Glens Fork United Methodist Church, which sponsored the special treat at their weekly A.W.A.N.A. meeting, Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Grant is the son of Susan Miller and grandson of Jimmy and Barbara Brummett of Glens Fork. The Glens Fork United Methodist Church is located at 124 Hwy 900 Road, Columbia KY, in the Glens Fork community of Adair Co., KY-Bryan Miller

Halloween tradition: Dress alikes for Kindergarten



2009-10-30 - Colonel Wm. Casey Elementary School, 220 Gen. John Adair DR, Columbia, KY 42728 - Photo by Patty Jones, Principal. In what has become an annual tradition at Col. Wm. Casey, the kindergarten staff dressed alike for Halloween. This year's theme was "Pirates". An extra addition to the crew was retired Curriculum Supervisor, Rita Campbell, who dressed as a pirate captain. Wizard of Oz visits John Adair



2009-10-30 - John Adair Intermediate School, Columbia, KY . Some of the Reading classes at John Adair have been reading the story of the Wizard of Oz. So when the teachers were deciding on their Halloween costumes, they didn't have to look far. In the picture is from left to right, Lana Knight as the Tornado, Pam Compton as the Tin Man, Tera McQueary as the yellow brick road, Trish Aaron as Dorothy, Dewayne Martin as the Lion, Cheryl Corbin as Glinda the Good Witch, Cindy Smith as the Scarecrow, and Jessican Abrell as the wicked witch. First Halloween for Dyllon Reece Kermeen at 3 months



2009-11-01 - Photo from Pam Kermeen. Dyllon Kermeen enjoyed a Halloween just like any other little 3 month old, with a romp in the leaves, dressed in his kiddy pumpkin outfit. But he's got a serious side, too, his grandmother announces. "There is a new generation of United States Marine's in the making. Dyllon Reece Kermeen says "Trick or Treat!" his grandmother, Pam Kermeen, Columbia, KY, writes. "He is my little treat. We can't wait until Thanksgiving to see him!"

Treats on the Town, 2009: Lines into sunset



2009-11-01 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. The Second Annual Treats on the Town was anther huge success for the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce. The weather, with just enough of a nip to make the hot chocolate served free at the Cafe on the Square a necessary treat, was perfect.

This photo were taken on Halloween Night, Saturday, October 31, 2009, at approximately 11:00pmCT, by Danette Burton, who writes, "After taking the family and friends through the Haunted Hollow in the Keltner Community we were on our way back to Columbia and came upon this. Apparently children do still pull pranks on Halloween. In the middle of the road were tires and hay burning with the road completely blocked."

Halloween 2009: Downtown Columbia, KY

Big Halloween Party at Dunnville, Casey Co., KY
