Update, with comments by ACHS Band Director Tom Case

The Adair County High School Band competed at the Rebel Classic on the campus of Boone County High School in Florence on Saturday, October 17, 2009.

The band competed against three other state finalists from last year, including the Williamstown HS Band that outscored Adair earlier in the season at the finals of Eastern HS in Louisville, KY.

The band swept all honors in Class 3A (Music / Visual / Effect / Color Guard / Percussion)

The band also had the highest score after the preliminary competition.

In finals, the band won the overall awards for music / visual / effect / color guard / and percussion and was named Grand Champion of the contest by scoring a 92.

"I am very proud and happy for the students with this achievement," Adair County Band Director Tom Case said. "We have a great deal of respect for all bands, but to come out on top against Williamstown, especially winning all captions says a lot about our band."He added, "We have a great deal of confidence heading into the two weeks of the state championships, and are looking forward to competing in the state quarterfinals on Saturday."

The Adair County Bband performs at 12:00pmCT at Warren East High School, 6867 Louisville RD, Bowling Green, KY 42101, on Saturday, October 31, 2009, in conjunction with the KMEA Class 3A West Quarterfinals.
