Stotts Construction, Inc., wins Parkview DR sewer project bid Three lowest bids under engineers estimate. Council authorizes Mayor Bell to make what is believed to be the city's first ever effort to secure a grant to purchase trucks for garbage and utilities departments. By Ed Waggener The Columbia City Council voted unanimously to approve the recommendation of Bell Engineering to award the Parkview DR Sewer project to Stotts Construction, Inc., Columbia, KY, the lower bidder on the project. The vote was unanimous following a motion by Councillor June Parson, seconded by Councillor Charles Grimsley to accept the recommendation. The action took place in a special called meeting at 3:00pmCT, Thursday, October 22, 2009. Six bids were received on the Parkview Project. The three low bids were:
City authorizes Mayor to go for grant for garbage, utility trucks In the only other item on the agenda, the Council authorized the Mayor to sign necessary documents to seek a grant through the USDA Rural Development Administration for a new garbage truck and a new truck for the utilities department. The vote was 4-0 on a motion by Councillor Edwin Taylor, seconded by Councillor Charles Grimsley, to authorize the Mayor to sign necessary documents to seek the grant. Mayor Bell, in answer to a question from Councillor Taylor, said that as far as he knows, this is the first time in the history of the city that a grant had been sought for the purchase of trucks.The council adjourned at 3:12pmCT, on a motion by Councillor Joe Moore, who said, "I move we adjourn." The Council met with a quorum which included Councillors Edwin Taylor, Joe Moore, June Parson and Charles Grimsley. Also in attendance were City Attorney Marshall Loy, City Clerk Carolyn Edwards, City Police Chief Mark D.
