WKU graduate is new Dept. of Corrections District 13 supervisor

Has two "Death Row" dogs for pets. Animals come from program in which animal shelter pairs dogs with inmate trainers so dogs will be more adoptable and won't be euthanized.

FRANKFORT, KY - Jarrod Dortch has been promoted to District 13 Supervisor, Kentucky Department of Corrections Director of Probation & Parole Lelia "Lee" VanHoose announced on October 20, 2009. The District includes Crittenden, Union, Henderson, Ohio, Hancock, Muhlenberg, Webster, Daviess and McLean counties.

Dortch is a graduate of Western Kentucky University. He and his wife Stacy live in Owensboro with their two "Death Row" dogs, Poppy and Spyder. The animals were adopted from the program at the Green River Correctional Complex called "Death Row Dogs" that takes dogs from a local animal shelter and pairs them with inmate trainers so the dogs will become more adoptable and won't be euthanized.

Dortch is a 15-year veteran of the Department of Corrections who began his career at the Owensboro Probation & Parole Office in August of 1994. He supervised a Daviess County caseload and conducted court investigations for Daviess Circuit Court.

In January of 2007 Dortch was promoted to Assistant District Supervisor in the 13th District. He is a 2007 graduate of the Commissioner's Executive Leadership Program.
