By Barbara Armitage
President, Columbia Garden Club

The first meeting of A Stitch in Time was fun and helpful. Six talented ladies gathered this morning at the Trabue-Russell House to form Columbia's newest group "A Stitch in Time". Knitting and crocheting enthusiasts are welcome to join them every Monday morning to share their ideas, techniques and patterns while they work on projects .

"We are already learning from each other" said Janet Najarian as she patiently wound yarn for a new project. Maggie Saenz spent the morning hard at work following an historic pattern for a delicate baby sweater. Yarn and patterns and homemade cookies filled the table as these new friends formed a tight knit group.

With so many knitters and crocheters in the area the group sees itself growing quite quickly. Plans for the future include guest speakers, field trips to yarn shops in far-away places like Lexington and Louisville, and even classes in carding, spinning and dyeing.

If you would like to be a member of A Stitch in Time please contact Janet Najarian at (270) 285-6025. The group meets every Monday morning from 9am to noon CT, participants are welcome for all or part of each meeting. A Stitch in Time meets at the Trabue-Russell House, 201 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY. Basic knitting or crocheting skills are necessary to join at this time.
