One teen dies; driver airlifted
from Eli, Russell Co., KY crash scene


Tragedy occurs on KY 76 in Russell County. Columbia, KY, KSP Post 15 Officer John Barnett is investigating

RUSSELL CO., KY - A collision occurred this morning, Monday, October 12, 2009 at 10:45amCT, .5 mile North of Eli on KY 76.

Brently R Frost, age 17, of Russell Springs, KY was operating a 2003 Ford Focus when he lost control in a curve, ran off roadway and struck a tree.

He was flown from the scene to U.K Medical Center in Lexington, KY.
A passenger, Travis R Popplewell, age 17 of Russell Springs was pronounced dead at the scene by the Russell County Coroner.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt. The collision is being investigated by TPR John Barnett.
