Casey Storm at KY 70 & 206 a localized twister, reporter says

WHVE FM 92.7 the WAVE newsman Alan Reed has just returned from the site of the tornado Friday afternoon, October 9, 2007 around the intersection of KY 206 and KY 70 in Casey Co., KY, about 7 miles west of Liberty.

"About 2-3 mobile homes looked like they just exploded," he said. "There was debris all over several fields," he said, "and some damage to the store in the intersection."

Reed said he expected that KY 206 would be shut down for a few more hours. Reed said there was also damage to a church near Phillips School on KY 70 about one-half mile west of the intersection.

"It seemed to be localized," Reed said. "and it appeared to be a twister, from the utility poles that were snapped and the way the trees were damaged. I think it will be classified as an F1 tornado," he said. "It wasn't a straight line wind."
