Youngs Mill: Giant catfish was landed by Claudis Moore there His uncle's fishing skills weren't the greatest, but he was the star of the day when he pulled the monster catfish out of Russell Creek at the remnants of Youngs Mill, back in days when Dr. Smith was a lad About: Youngs Mill By Roger D. Smith, DMC I remember fishing in the pond as a youngster, and I always thought it was a special treat for my Dad to take me on a tour through the remains of the mill. I remember the large mill stones lying about. On one memorable fishing trip with my father, Garlin Smith, and my uncle Claudis Moore, my uncle hooked a giant catfish. Now my Uncle Claudis was not the greatest fisherman, but on this day he did shine. Equipped with only a cane pole, braided line, a giant sinker (as always), and hook and worm he finally landed with much effort and yelling for help with a cat that weighed in at sixteen pounds. I can still remember his bragging and my Dad's laughter at him trying to drag that fish up the steep bank. This story was posted on 2009-10-05 04:16:36
