Casey Center of SCC 3rd International Festival Oct. 15, 2009

Festival at Liberty, KY will have presentations by Alesha Gehrig, Nikki Simms, Kim Loranze, Candice Milroy, Katrina Martin, Ashley Wilson, Diane Frederick, Allan Gadberry, Brittany Haste, Jason Hare, Micah Meece, Pamela Cochran, Beth Wilson, Mick Slone, Ben Wilson, Autumn Shoene, Paige Goode, Daphne Gibson, Tiffany Murphy, Jennifer and Robert Alveritt

The Casey Center of Somerset Community College will hold its Third Annual International Festival on Thursday, October 15, 2009, from 2 to 6pmET at 3609 North US 127 in Liberty. KY The public is invited and there is no admission charge. There will be student presentations and displays.



Casey Center students Alesha Gehrig and Nikki Sims will be speaking about Afghanistan. Students Kim Loranze and Candice Milroy will give a presentation on Mexico and have a display of dolls and other items.

Student Katrina Martin will speak about the role of religion in our society, and she will display a costume native to one religion.

An Ecuadorian display and presentation will be given by Casey Center students Ashley Wilson and Diane Frederick.

Students Allan Gadberry and Brittany Haste will give an explanation of the Chinese culture and language. They will demonstrate the Chinese Alphabet by writing students' names in Chinese. They will also have a display and poster.

Casey Center student Hartley Scott will display a poster on Japan.

A demonstration on how to make and play a banjo will be given by student Jason Hare.

Student Micah Meece will talk about his recent trip to Costa Rica, and Pamela Cochran will present a poster on this country.

There will be other posters and displays about German and Appalachian culture and music.

Ben Wilson and Mick Slone will have a display on how to make and play dulcimers.

A Native American display will be set up and explained by Autumn Schoener and Paige Goode.

International recipes and a tasting party will be lead by Daphne Gibson, Tiffany Murphy, Jennifer and Robert Alveritt.

If anyone else is interested in giving presentations or providing displays, please call Judy Sapp at (606) 875-5727. We will be more than happy to include you in our International Festival.
