Agriculture Safety Day held for ACES students

BY Debbie Cowan

Adair County Elementary School students in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades participated in an Agriculture Safety Day on Wednesday, September 30, 2009.

Students were treated to fun, informative lessons on how to be safe around tractors, animals and all terrain vehicles. They learned about the importance of wearing helmets and life vests and also saw how grain bins are not a place for children to play.

This event is sponsored by Tony Rose and the Adair County 4-H program along with Kirby Hancock and Future Farmers of America students. It is coordinated at the school level by the Family Resource Center. All Adair County 6th grade students will participate in a similar event on October 16, 2009.

The safety day took place at the new Adair County High School Agricultural facility, 184 FFA Drive, Columbia, KY.
