Obituary: James Luther Willis, 81, Taylor Co., KY

Mr. Willis was a retired farmer and had retired from the Tennessee Gas Transmission Co. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church

Mr. James Luther Willis, Campbellsville, KY, died at 4:00amET, Saturday, September 26, 2009. The funeral service for Mr. James Luther Willis will be at 11amET, Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon AV, Campbellsville, KY by Dr. Dwayne Howell. Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 3878 Greensburg RD, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be after 5:00pmET, Monday, September 28, 2009, at the funeral Home.



James Luther Willis, Taylor Co., KY (September 8, 1928 - September 26, 2009)

James Luther Willis of Campbellsville, son of the late Coy Willis and Bertha Campbell Willis was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, September 8, 1928. He died at 4:00amET, Saturday, September 26, 2009, in Campbellsville, KY at the age of 81 years and 18 days.

He had professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

He was a retired farmer and retired from the Tennessee Gas Transmissions. He united in marriage to Arlene Rogers January 11, 1946. She preceded him in death August 9, 2008.

He was also preceded in death by two sons: Jim R. Willis April 10, 1998 and Bobby Willis January 5, 2003.

He is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters-in-law: Wanda Willis and Loretta Willis, Campbellsville, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Becky Willis of Tennessee, Rob Willis, Atlanta, GA, and James Rogers Willis Jr. and wife, Jenny of Campbellsville, KY

  • Four great-grandchildren

  • One sister: Shirley Noel, Elkhorn, KY

  • One brother: Ray (Doc) Willis of Louisiana

  • Several other relatives and friends.
