Westlake Health Fair open til noon Sept. 26, 2009

Booths Open This Morning at 7am continue to 12noon

When the Westlake Regional Hospital Health Fair opens at 7amCT this morning, Saturday, September 26, 2009, there will are scheduled to be 48 vendors in the hallways giving out free information and handouts for better health.

Great food will be available, both in the Hospital Cafe and at the Food Tent operated by the Westlake Hospital Auxiliary.



Those who have not yet had blood drawn for the $12 special package of tests can be at the hospital beginning at 6:30amCT.

The vendors which will be present include the following:

A special feature this year will be a booth operated by the Adair County FFA, which will be taking orders for Address Markers and the unique yard post, which requires no tools to install.

2009 Westlake Health Fair - Extension Service

Edmonton Primary Care represented at WRH Health Fair 2009

WRH Health Fair 2009: At the Food Booth

The Westlake Hospital Auxiliary Food Tent is at the entrance to the health fair and was one of the busiest locations on the premises this morning. Picture above, are, from left members Sharon Harris, Lila Loy, and, at right Jerry Quinn, Westlake physical plant director whose department set up the temporary dining room, and Westlake Marketing Director Pauline Davenport, the fair manager. Auxiliary members present but not photographed above were Shirley Grider, Shirley Reliford, Betty Thorsen, Evelyn Phelps, Eva Wilkinson and President Margaret Sparks, all of whom brought baked goods for the Food Tent. Others who sent baked goods were Dorothy Murray, Zona Royce, Betty Flaynik, Marily Hunter, Nelda Taylor, Delwin Blair, and Mary Evelyn Walker. Sue Stivers ran a registration booth, as did member Charles Marshall. Charles Barnes was elan man, hawking ham sandwiches, sausauge and biscuit and hot coffee.

Dr. Sherry Jones, M.D., new member of medical community

Dr.Sherry Jones, is a Family Medicine M.D. at Adair Medical Center was representing the center at the Westlake Health Fair along with Center Nurse Practitioner Sandra Irvin. Dr. Jones, a University of North Carolina Medical School graduate and a native and resident of Glasgow, said that she feels like she's back home again. Her mother's people are originally from the Inroad on Crocus Creek area, and more recently, her maternal relatives, the Shirleys lived on the Adair-Metcalfe County line.

Westlake Health Fair 2009: SylverTouch Therapy

Betty Sallee, left, and Deb Roberts, Licensed Massage Therapists (LMTs) with SylverTouch Therapy, 120 First ST, Campbellsville, KY, were happy campers at the 2009 Westlake Health Fair. Above, they've packed up and were headed to lunch at Betty's OK Country Cooking after filling their morning with free 10-minute shoulder massages at the health fair. "We had a wonderful time," Deb Roberts said. "We plan to be back next year." Accompanying the health care professionals was Robert Young, Betty's brother, their spokesperson, and the man who took many of the photographs used on Cox Interiors website.

After the WRH fair was over, 2009: moving chairs



2009-09-26 - 801 Westlake DR, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Almost as the clock said high noon, tables and chairs used in the Westlake Health Fair for 2009 were virtually removed. This load of folding chairs has been in the dining area of the Westlake Hospital Auxiliary Food tent, and had come from the hospital storeroom in Columbia, with a few borrowed from the Westlake Healthcare Teams Greensburg, KY, and Liberty, KY operations. Above, from left, are Leslie Greer, Mitchell Quinn, Russell McGaha, and Eddie Bardin of the Westlake Maintenance, whose director, Jerry Quinn was overseeing fair follow-up operations elsewhere in the building. A few minutes after this photo was taken, only the food tent itself and few fast healing wound to grassy verge of Westlake DR, remained as evidence of the event.
