Obituary: Bobbie Ellis Burton, 81, Columbia, KY

She was a beloved member of the community whose warm smile will be greatly missed. She was a member of a prominent Adair Co., KY family and of the Trinity United Methodist Church.

Bobbie Ellis Burton, age 81 years of 3156 Hwy. 55 So. Road, Columbia, Ky. passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 4:32pm at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, KY.

The funeral service will be Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 2:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. P. T. and Peggy Barnum and Bro. Garry Jones, the officiatiing clergy. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty RD, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the funeral home.



Bobbie Ellis Burton, Columbia, KY (March 13, 1928 - September 23, 2009)

She was born on March 13, 1928, the daughter of the late George and Dolly Tarter McLean of Adair Co., KY, and died September 23, 2009 at the age of 81 years, 6 months, and 10 days.She was preceded in death by her husband Orville Earl Ellis and one son, Michael Earl Ellis, and later married Elbert Burton of Columbia, KY, who survives.Also surviving are the following:
  • One daughter: Donna Feese and husband Jr. of Columbia, KY

  • Step-son: Ronnie Burton and wife Barbara of Columbia, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Tim Ellis, Sherri Bodkin and husband Geoff, Jeff Feese and wife Shannon; Tonya Feese, and Craig Feese and wife Stephanie

  • Three step-grandchildren

  • Eleven great grandchildren

  • One great great grandchild

  • And several nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a homemaker

She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters: Buddy McLean, Russell McLean, Willard McLean, Herman McLean, James McLean, Evelyn McKinley, Thelma Whitekettle, Doris Welch and Barkley Dulin.

Memorials are suggested to the MS Society in memory of Mike Ellis and Thelma Burton Akin and may be made at the funeral home.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements.
