Obituary: Clara Dean Brockman, 73, Taylor Co., KY

Ms. Brockman was a beloved Taylor County elementary school teacher whose career spanned 32 years. Her funeral was Monday, September 21, 2009

Clara Dean Brockman, Taylor Co., KY (April 18, 1936 - September 18, 2009)

Clara Dean Brockman of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Ray Russell Rice and Lora Richerson Rice, was born in April 18, 1936, in Taylor Co., KY. She died at 11:24amET, Friday, September 18, 2009, in Louisville, KY at the age of 73 years, 5 months.



She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Lowell Avenue Baptist Church. She was a retired elementary school teacher from Taylor County Schools having taught 1st and 2nd grade for 32 years.

She united in marriage to Hollis Brockman September 10, 1960.

Besides her husband, Hollis Brockman, of Campbellsville, she is survived by the following:
  • One daughter and son-in-law, Mellissa and Gary Jones of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two granddaughters: Holly Wilson and husband, Chris, and Cara Jones of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two great-grandchildren: Elli and Kati Wilson of Campbellsville, KY

  • One sister: Elizabeth Kirtley of Campbellsville, KY

  • One sister-in-law: Helen Rice of Campbellsville, KY

  • And several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Amber Gale Jones; and three brothers and one sister: Frank Rice, Eugene Rice, Maurice Lee Rice and Marjorie Bryant.

The funeral service for Clara Dean Brockman, 73, Campbellsville, KY, was Monday, September 21, 2009, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, Cambellsville, KY, with the Rev. Larry Koch the officiating clergy. Burial was in the Brookside Cemetery, Campbellsville, KY.

Pallbearers were Kim Bailey, Utah Canada, Jr.; Tim Draper, Bobby Kirtley, Travis Price, Greg Rice, and Marty Shields. Honorary pallbearers were Dustin Arnold, Jerry Arnold, Jason Caulk, Mike Reynolds, Tyler Reynolds, and David Rice.
