Soccer: Game-winning goal propels Azira to MSC weekly award

Kampala, Uganda native Michael Azira has started all five games for Lindsey Wilson College Men's Soccer Team. He's netted three goals thus far in 2009

LOUISVILLE, KY - Lindsey Wilson College sophomore defender Michael Azira scored the game-winning goal against eighth ranked University (OH) of Rio Grande on September 19, 2009, to earn Mid-South Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday, September 21, 2009.



The sophomore helped the sixth ranked Blue Raiders dispatch Rio Grande 2-1 with his goal in the 80th minute off of freshman midfielder Lebogang Moloto's assist.

Lindsey Wilson (4-1, 1-0 MSC) extended its conference winning streak to 57 games with the win. The Blue Raiders are 55-0-2 against MSC opponents since the 2001 season.

The conference honor is the first of the season for Azira. The Kampala, Uganda native has netted three goals for six points while starting all five games for Lindsey Wilson this season.
