LWC Mens Golf 2nd after MSC Fall Tournament opening round Blue Raiders 9 strokes out of 1st place behind host CU. Chaz Giles, Columbia, KY, shoots strong 74 By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team is tied for second following the Monday, September 21, 2009, opening round of the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament hosted at Campbellsville Country Club. The Blue Raiders shot an opening round team total of 292 to trail host Campbellsville (KY) University (283) by nine stokes heading into Tuesday's final round. Georgetown (KY) College is tied for second while the University of the Cumberlands (KY) is fourth with a 294. Lindsey Wilson junior Joe Hood leads the Blue Raiders and sits two strokes off the lead after a first round total of two-under par 70 (36-34). Hood trails Lindenwood (MO) University's Morgan Leigh following his four under, 68 (36-32). Hood, a Bowling Green, KY, native, did not make a bogey en route to tying his career-best round. His card included a pair of birdies and a tournament-tying best 16 pars. Hood is tied for fourth entering Tuesday's round. Lindsey Wilson freshman Antonio Arriola made 16 pars as well to shoot an even par round of 72 (36-36). Arriola is tied for seventh in the 56-man field. Freshman Daron Morris (38-37) and sophomore Nicholas Navarro (38-37) are tied for 18th overall after a three-over par 75s and senior Travis Radford is tied for 28th following a 77 (40-37). Freshman Chaz Giles, Columbia, KY, who is tied for 16th, led three Blue Raider individuals with a two-over 74 (39-35). Senior Zach Charbonneau is tied for 18th with a 75 (36-39) and sophomore Derek Murphy is tied for 45th with an 82 (40-42).Lindsey Wilson remains in second place despite just making five birdies today as a team. Hood, Arriola and Morris, who carded 15 pars, help the Blue Raiders keep pace with a tournament-best 71 pars as a team. Campbellsville recorded 10 more birdies as a team and 10 fewer pars.LWC Men's Golf.
