LWC Women's Cross Country wins Berea Invitational title

Sharon Ronoh, Alicia Mattingly, and Monicah Maiyo in Top 10 invividual as Lindsey Wilson Women's Cross Country Team takes First Place.

BEREA, Ky. - With three harriers finishing in the top 10, the Lindsey Wilson College women's cross country team took first place at the Berea College Invitational on Saturday.

Freshman Sharon Ronoh finished with a time of 20 minutes and 23.44 seconds to finish in second place and lead the women's cross country team to its title. Sophomore Alicia Mattingly followed Ronoh across the line in fifth with a time of 21:32.58. Senior Monicah Maiyo finished eighth in 22:02.77.



The Blue Raiders won the event with 47 points, beating out second-place Georgetown College (54 points) and Transylvania University in third place with 54 points.

Other finishers for the Blue Raiders were senior Amanda Johnson in 22:42.51 for 13th place. Junior Nicole Furnish took 19th place with a time of 22:55.49. Junior Chelsea Conway finished with a time of 26:05.17 and was not included in the team's point total.

LWC Women's Cross Country team is off until 8:30amCT on October 3, 2009, for at the Greater Louisville Classic, E. P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park, 3000 Freys Hill RD, Louisville, KY
