ACHS Boy's Golf Team establishes itself as regional contender Van Giles leads ACHS with par 36 in win over Russell Co. Special ColumbiaMagazine.com sports story On Thursday afternoon, the ACHS Boy's Golf Team picked up their biggest victory of the season on Thursday afternoon, September 18, 2009, at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson, 275 Country Club RD, Columbia, KY, with a hard earned 3 shot victory over regional powerhouse Russell County. Van Giles led the tribe with an even par round of (36). Michael Waggener (37) Charles Breeding (38) Madison Brashear (40) and Colby Robertson (42) rounded out the Indians attack. The Indians posted a team score of (151) to best Russell County's score of (154). "This win is huge for us," Coach Steve Burton said. "Russell County is the best team that we have played all year long. I have a lot of respect for Russell County's program, they are very talented and well coached." The victory pushed the Indians record to 10 wins against 4 losses on the season. The Adair County Boys Varsity Golf Team will compete in a 24 team field at Rosewood Country Club Invitational Tournament, Saturday 19, 2009 at Rosewood Country Club, 520 Fairway DR, Lebanon, KY.
