Adair County Garden Club Day is today, Sept. 17, 2009

Columbia Mayor Patrick R. Bell proclaimed September 17, 2009, at "Adair County Garden Club," with a signing ceremony in City Hall this morning, Friday, September 11, 2009. At the signing were Garden Club members, Front row Melody Broward, (Mayor Bell). Second row Jennifer Smith, Lila Loy, Kathy Hunt, Angie Loy, and Richard Broward. Back row, Barbara Armitage, club president; Dora Mae Stone, Lucille Lemmon, Dianne Loy and Johnnie Biggs.



Proclamation

September 17, 2009 is Adair County Garden Club Day

Whereas, The Adair County Garden Club has a part of its mission the goals of environmental and community support services.

And, Whereas, The Adair County Garden Club has taken as one of their projects the complete restoration of the Julia Miler Horton Memorial Rose Garden located at the Trabue-Russell House.

And, Whereas, the said Garden Club has assumed responsibility of maintaining the flower boxes on the local square, and thereby improving the aesthetics and beauty of Columbia.

And, Whereas, the said Garden Club has donated at least a thousand (1,000) hours of effective and dedicated service to improve our city and continues to do so.

Be it therefore resolved that the mayor and each member of the City Council wishes to express their appreciation (past and future) to the Adair County Garden Club, and as a token of our appreciation we proclaim the day of September 17, 2009, Adair County Garden Club day.
