Historic metric needed: Times CR circled per night of cruising

About: Remembers hot buttered doughnuts at Jim Dandy

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

How well I remember crusin our regular route on the weekend and then ending up at Circle R to order a cherry lemon Sprite. Everyone tried to get a parking place there to enjoy watching everyone drive around. Wonder how many time Circle R was circled during a night of cruising Columbia?

s/Debbie Selby

Good question. and a badly needed quantification.

Maybe a arithmetician, can devise a information theory to use to determine that number. The hardest part will be finding the Contemplated Population (the way population was posted in those days; the way it ought to be now) of the City of Columbia. My guess is .8 times that number, though that may be conservative. Also along the lines of ancient memories: Remember when the Old Folks parked toward the traffic to watch the cruising until their bedtime? A senior couple would go to what is today's Dairy Dip, bought a small ice cream to split between them, and watch cruising on the Square for entertainment. A lot more entertaining than evening Tv today. -EW
