ACES aided by Adair Youth Develoment Center

AYDC builds picnic tables and park benches

Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story

In the past few months the Adair County Youth Development Center's staff and residents have developed a wonderful partnership of community service with Adair County Elementary School. Late last spring Robbie Harmon, ACES Principal, and Ricky Collins, shop instructor at AYDC, saw a need for some picnic tables and park benches to be added to the playground area at ACES.

"The students and staff at AYDC provided our students with some wonderful picnic tables and park benches," Mr. Harmon states. "We are sure putting them to good use!" He goes on to say that the students of ACES have used the benches and tables on a daily basis. They have been used for a variety of purposes from having a place to sit and complete class work to students having an outside place to eat lunch.

Mr. Harmon said he would like to say thanks to the students and staff at AYDC that took several hours of work to construct the tables and benches.

He also wanted to say special thanks to Ricky Collins, Don Marks, Jimmy Bailey, Jason Bradshaw, Crystal Miller, and the students that were involved. Another very special thank you is being extended to AYDC Superintendent Dwayne Mills for allowing the students and staff to undertake this partnership.

At present time Mr. Harmon and Mr. Collins are looking into the future to see what else can be added to the campus of Adair Co. Elementary as a result of this great partnership!
