Letter: Concerned about upsurge in littering To ColumbiaMagazine.com: Oh no, this just won't do! I understand that for every right there must be a wrong, for every yen a yang. But for every beautiful sight must we look at this kind of mess? I left Tucker's Station on a mission to photograph the roses at the Trabue House this afternoon. Driving along Bull Run Road I was appalled at the amount of roadside litter that marred the beauty of our scenic county byway. I turned on to Hwy 206 and trash seemed to be popping up like mushrooms after a spring rain. Another turn on Young Street and my heart was breaking at the sight. By the time I made my turn on Jamestown Street I was calculating just how long it would take to clean this mess up. Even little Trabue Street had been defaced. What has happened? There are cans and bottles, newspapers and fast food containers every where I look. Littering is a choice. It is just as easy to choose to dispose of your trash in an appropriate manner. Littering is not only disgusting to look at it's a health hazard and harmful to our environment. Don't do it and if you see someone else littering explain to them that that Columbia is our home and it's not acceptable to throw their trash on our roads.
