Community can do better than Warmed Pop Tarts for breakfasts

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Thought you might want to read this article in the New York Times, Stars are Aligning on School Lunches and possibly put a link to it on the website.

I noticed that surrounding counties were getting federal money to improve their school lunch programs, but did not see Adair County on the list.

Any idea or other information as to why we are not getting that funding?

Better school lunches and breakfasts are sorely needed, and would go a great way towards improving community health status. We as a community should be able to do better than "Warmed Pop Tarts" for breakfasts, don't you think?

Maybe this calls for another Adair County Garden Club. They seem to be stepping in to give leadership voids in the community. Maybe they can give the assistance the School System needs to have school gardens and greater emphasis on good food and nutrition in our school lunch program.
