AC Schools drug testing meeting Tues. Aug. 25, 2009 By Asst. Supt. Brenda Mann, Adair Co. School District The Adair County School District invites parents, students, school staff and the community to a Drug Education and Student Random Drug Testing informational meeting to be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 6:00pmCT in the Adair County High Gym, 526 Indian DR, Columbia, KY 42728. The comprehensive Random Drug Testing Program is in place to deter drug use and to offer intervention for students experiencing drug abuse. The Random Drug Testing Program is in its third year of implementation in the Adair County School District. Last year the Adair County School Board expanded the Random Drug Testing Program to include students in grades 6 through 12 who participate in middle/high school extracurricular competitive activities (athletics/cheerleading and school organizations/clubs) and students who drive or park on school property. In addition to the mandatory Random Drug Testing Program, parents/guardians of students in grades 7-12 continue to have the opportunity to enroll their child(ren) as a volunteer participant of the Program. Students are only required to complete program enrollment forms once, so students already enrolled in the Random Drug Testing Program do not have to complete additional paperwork to be eligible to continue participation in the activities covered under the Random Drug Testing Program. Program enrollment is ongoing unless the student's parent/guardian completes a program withdrawal form, the student graduates or withdraws from school. The complete Random Drug Testing Procedure is available on the Adair County Board of Education website under the student procedure section at http://www.adair.k12.ky.us. For more information about the meeting or the Random Drug Testing Program please contact Brenda Mann at (270) 384-2476. This story was posted on 2009-08-18 14:26:29
