Special ColumbiaMagazine.com sports story

The girls' golf team played in their first tournament of the season at Eagles Nest Country Club in Somerset.

The team was led by freshman, Ashley Goodin with a 90, Natalie Sneed 92, Emilee Royse and Natalie Curry shot 111, and Dea Brandon with a 112.

The team finished 11th with a team score of 404. Green Co. won with a score of 343, Glasgow finished with a 346, and Russell Co. a 347. The top two individuals was Kylie Foushee (Glasgow) and Becky Sharpe (Williamsburg) with a 79.

"The scores ran a little high this year but this is a difficult course to play and walk. We've been a little spoiled with such good weather so the heat made it more difficult to play. I feel like we will improve as the season progresses so I am not disappointed at all with our performance," Coach Kim Goodin said.

Next play:

The Adair County High School Girls Golf team will play at Green County Country Club, 158 Golf Course Rd. Greensburg, KY 42743, at around 3:30pmCT on Monday, August 10, 2009.
