This is hard: Marching to a different lighting system

Click on headline for story and photo

By Shamarie Claiborne

The Adair County Marching Band is hoping for lights tonight. The band will be practicing for the Macy's Parade appearance. But's it's been hard. Last night, Thursday, August 6, 2009, at regular season practice, band parents had to line up car headlights for the band to practice. It's kind of a long story, but here's what happened.
  1. The band's practice field is normally the baseball field. But we can't practice there currently, because the lights are being replaced.
  2. Practice was moved to the old football field, Booster Field, temporarily, where lights are available.
  3. When the crow's nest at Booster Field was condemned and had to be replaced, the lights had to be shut off at Booster field.
  4. That meant taking emergency immediate action, and last night that was lining up personal cars to shine lights on Booster Field
Practice was cut short. The car lights were alternately blinding and provided insufficient lighting. We're hoping they've got the Booster Field lights back on tonight. It makes life a whole lot easier.
