Obituary: Zelmer Crawhorn, 92, Columbia, KY

Mrs. Crawhorn was a member of a large, respected Adair County family.

Zelmer Crawhorn, 92, Columbia, KY, died tuesday, August 4, 2009, at 10:30amCT, at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, KY.

The funeral service will be Saturday, August 8, 2009, at 12 noon CT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Rev. William Davenport and Rev. Lewis haynes officiating. Burial will be in Columbia City Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT, Friday, August 7, 2009, at the funeral home.


She was born November 24, 1916, the daughter of the late Willie W. and Nellie Janes Burris of Adair County, KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Brack Crawhorn; a son, Rufus Crawhorn; one grandson, Bryan DeBerry; one brother, Kalup Burris; and two sisters, Mary Sneed and Ruby Compton.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two sons: Alton and his wife Gladys Crawhorn, Mt. Washington, KY; and Richard and his wife Nancy Crawhorn, Shepherdsville, KY

  • One daughter: Linda and her husband Glenn Seaton, Titusville, FL

  • Two sisters: Zada Sneed, Columbia, KY, and Lucille Reece, Indianapolis, IN

  • Two brothers: Tom and Clavis "Short" Burris both of Columbia, KY

  • A daughter in law: Ruby Crawhorn, Columbia, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Randy Crawhorn, Douglas Crawhorn, Derek Crawhorn, Cheri Crawhorn, Michelle DeBerry, Keli Kirksey, and Sara DeBerry

  • Eight great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers: Randy, Doug, and Derek Crawhorn, Ralph Sneed, Wilburn Sneed, Steven Reece, David Burris, and Travis Burris.Grissom-Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
