Lindsey Wilson prepares for record number of resident students Campus influx may swell population in city by 825 or more, up over 120 from last year, a record number for the college; total enrollment expected to reach 2,100 Click on headline for full story, photo(s) By Duane Bonifer Members of Lindsey Wilson College's student services offices continued this week to prepare the A.P. White Campus for a deluge of students later this month. College officials expect an 18 percent increase in Lindsey Wilson's resident student population. Last year, 721 students lived in the residence halls; this year, more than 825 are expected to move in during opening weekend, August 14-16, 2009, which would be a record number of resident students for the college. To prepare for the influx of resident students, more than 40 members of the college's admissions, athletics, residence life and other student services offices pitched in Tuesday and Wednesday to move new furniture. The group moved more than 30 wardrobes, 40 dressers and 35 desks into Weldon and Richardson halls, plus into five former houses the college will use to lodge students. Mattresses and beds will be moved next week. Other areas of the campus were also busy making final adjustments in preparation for the 2009 fall semester, which begins August 17, 2009. Total enrollment is expected to exceed 2,100 students. LWC's 2008-09 enrollment was a record 2,003. This story was posted on 2009-08-06 05:42:39
